Definition · Print & DTP
DTP (Desktop Publishing) covers all printed materials: flyers, brochures, magazines, packaging, signage, business cards. Studjoow designs and prepares hi-res files for offset or digital printing, with press follow-up through to the final proof.
Why it matters
in 2026
Print is dead, people say. Except that in 2026, receiving a business card printed on beautiful 350 g cotton paper is a memorable act in an ocean of emails. A product's packaging remains one of the first interactions with a brand. A well-printed sales brochure is worth a thousand digital pitches. Print is not outdated: it has become rare and therefore precious. But printing well remains demanding: CMYK, bleed, gripper margin, 300 dpi resolution, paper chosen with the printer. Studjoow designs materials and accompanies the process through to press proof, because we have learned from mistakes in the workshop and know the traps that cost reprints.
Studjoow approach
InDesign/Illustrator layout, technical checks (CMYK, bleed, gripper margin, 300 dpi resolution), certified PDF proof, press proof follow-up. Partner printer recommendations selected to match needs (offset for volume, digital for tight deadlines, screen printing for special effects).
Method
5 mapped steps, from brief to launch. Each step produces a deliverable validated with you before moving to the next.
Defining final format, paper, finishes (varnish, foiling, lamination), and print run. Preparing the InDesign template to the correct dimensions with bleed and gripper margin.
Grid-based layout, typographic hierarchy, integration of high-resolution visuals (300 dpi minimum). Consistent with the brand guidelines.
PDF/X-1a proof verified: CMYK colours, vectorised fonts, bleed present, correct colour profile. Client sign-off.
Choosing the partner printer based on the need (offset, digital, screen printing). Quote and schedule. Studjoow knows printers across southern France and beyond.
Press check at the printer (or by sending a proof). Colour, registration, and trim validation. Adjustments possible before the full print run.

Myths & reality
Myth 01
Print is outdated in 2026.
Reality
Print is rare and therefore memorable. A beautiful business card, a well-crafted brochure, premium packaging stand out in an ocean of digital.
Myth 02
A PDF exported from Word is good enough to print.
Reality
Without CMYK, bleed, vectorised fonts, and 300 dpi resolution, the printer will reject the file or produce a poor result. Technical preparation is essential.
FAQ
CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is the subtractive mode of printing inks. RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is the additive mode of screens. All print files must be prepared in CMYK before printing.
Bleed (3 to 5 mm of overflow) compensates for imprecisions when trimming. Without bleed, white edges can appear on colour fills.
Studjoow designs and prepares the files. Printing goes through selected partner printers based on the need (offset, digital, screen printing). Press proof follow-up is included.
A4 closed or square 210×210 mm are most common. Saddle stitch up to 32 pages, perfect binding beyond that. Coated paper 130 to 170 gsm for inside pages, 250 to 350 gsm for the cover.
Between 5 and 10 working days for offset (standard press), 2 to 4 days digital for small volumes. Lead times to factor in before launch events.
